Estela's Projects
This set of stays was constructed for Mistress Gwenhwyfar dinas Emrys' Pelican ceremony. A full set of Elizabethan clothes, from the skin out, was constructed by the household for the day. This set was entirely hand sewn, the channels were corded for a softer wear. The centre front busk was made of oak and the back, lacing channels were boned in steel. It is a cross between the Pfalzgrafin Dorothea Sabina von Neuburg stays and Queen Elizabeth I's effigy stays, with the von Neuburg boning lines and tabs from the Effigy stays. I have found that tabbed stays are far more comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. |
